Inside Sales / Technical Sales Support (Plumbing & Mechanical)Position Overview
We are seeking an inside sales professional with a strong understanding of plumbing components. This role supports estimating, purchasing, and project execution by assisting with material selection, vendor coordination, and order processing. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically capable, and eager to learn vendor product lines and ordering processes.
This position is well suited for someone with hands-on plumbing, pipefitting, HVAC, or supply-house experience who is looking to transition into an office-based role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support sales, estimating, and project teams with material takeoff and ordering
- Identify and select piping materials including:
- Carbon steel
- Copper
- PVC / CPVC
- Understand and source:
- Valves (gate, globe, ball, check, control, etc.)
- Flanges (weld neck, slip-on, blind, threaded)
- Fittings, gaskets, fasteners, hangers, and accessories
- Communicate with vendors to obtain: quotes, leadtime, and availability
- Learn and manage vendor product lines and manufacturer representatives
- Assist with purchase orders and material tracking
- Coordinate with field technicians to ensure correct materials are ordered
- Maintain organized documentation for quotes, orders, and deliveries
Required Skills & Experience
- Working knowledge of plumbing and mechanical piping systems
- Familiarity with common materials:
- Carbon steel, copper, PVC/CPVC
- Basic understanding of:
- Valves, flanges, fittings, and piping components
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Willingness to learn vendors, manufacturers, and internal processes
- Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, software systems)
