We are seeking a full-time professional Civil Engineer for our The Dalles, Oregon office. You will work closely with our principals and multidisciplinary task leads on a mix of projects throughout the region. This opening is ideal for a registered professional engineer who can take the lead in the design of private land development projects and can independently manage projects. What You’ll Do
You will lead site development projects with our collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. This role will be involved in residential, industrial, commercial, education, and recreational projects. Our team environment provides the resources of in-house technical experts to meet the needs of our clients. You will also be involved in communicating with outside subconsultants. Knowledge and familiarity with local codes and agency standards is important for this person to thrive in leading projects. Specific responsibilities of this job include:
- Performing site and infrastructure design per county/city standards and maintaining proactive communication with the technical staff of jurisdictions to minimize future changes or misunderstandings.
- Developing and managing project scope, budget, and schedule.
- Providing technical leadership for project design team.
- Coordinating with other in-house disciplines, as well as outside subconsultants.
- Providing QA/QC review of deliverables.
- Assisting in mentoring engineering staff.
- Developing plans, specifications, and reports.
- Stamping final deliverables.
- Assisting in leading all components of the project from initial proposal/feasibility efforts through construction.
- Identifying and pursuing new opportunities in providing services for site development projects.
- Networking with clients, agency personnel, and colleagues to build/maintain professional network.
Who you are
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in civil engineering design related to land development.
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent degree (required).
- Oregon or Washington Professional Engineer (PE) civil license or the ability to obtain a license in the near future (required).
- Ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities.
- Demonstrated experience successfully delivering site development projects in Oregon and/or Washington.
- Knowledge and familiarity with local codes and agency standards.
- Basic understanding of project reports, solid time management, and follow‐through skills. Proven ability to manage a multi‐disciplinary team with a positive, flexible approach.
- Various civil engineering technical skills required including good organizational skills.
- A proactive approach to managing, effectively handling multiple priorities, maintaining relationships with clients, and producing high quality work.
- Strong written and oral communication skills including proposal and report writing.
- Self‐motivated, proactive, and detail oriented.
- Ability to work efficiently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Reputation for high level of client service.
- Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design experience.
- Maintaining relationships with clients to develop future opportunities.
- Actively participating in Project Management and team Meetings.
- Doing what needs to be done.
