Description
This position is responsible for assisting in the sales functions of the Akron Zoo’s Sales department, with a focus on outside sales lead generation. The Senior Sales Associate is responsible for the development and execution of all sales programs occurring at the Akron Zoo. These programs include, but are not limited to, field trips/school groups, facility rental private events, packaged tours (motor coach) and birthday parties. Primary responsibilities include generating sales leads to acquire new business, meeting department budgets and attendance goals by executing a growth-driven sales strategy and meeting key metrics in all cost center areas with attention to industry trends. As part of the Sales team, the Senior Sales Associate will be on the operational team for booked sales events, with a customer-centered approach. The Senior Sales Associate must work a flexible schedule that often includes evenings, weekends, and/or holiday shifts.
Essential functions:
- Generating new leads and contacts to increase sales in all revenue lines.
- Direct responsibility for meeting field trip / school group and birthday party budgetary and attendance goals.
- Exemplify and maintain the zoo’s high customer service standards by meeting guest needs and responding to concerns.
- Execute a sales growth plan and contact leads.
- Knowledgeable about, manage reservations, and fulfill operational responsibilities of the facility rental and package tour programs.
- Fulfill operational duties for all programs as the demands of the business require.
- Represent the zoo at business networking or industry sales events as needed.
- Serve as a member of the zoo’s Incident Command Team (ICT) in the capacity of Guest Chief.
- Daily work schedule will be Sunday – Thursday (weekend days are Friday and Saturday)
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 3-5 year outside sales experience, 3-5 years customer service experience and 2 years leadership experience.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
