Description
The Akron Zoo is seeking a Part Time Custodial candidate:
Custodial will be responsible for routine and restorative custodial work and for assisting in event set up and tear down. This role will assist in required routine cleaning and trash pickup. This position will be responsible for assisting in snow mitigation as needed.
- Maintain a clean and presentable park
- Performs assigned cleaning tasks in a timely fashion and work performed meets established standards for quality. Areas assigned to are, but limited to, private/public restrooms, offices, staff locker/shower/break rooms public spaces, staff storage, stairways, conference rooms, walkways, signs, railings, trash receptacles, viewing windows, litter pick up, gum removal, pathway blow downs, power washing, picnic tables, awnings, or any other assigned area.
- Event Assistance
- Transport and set up/teardown of event infrastructure, i.e. tables, chairs, tents, etc. With the aid of a variety of gas, diesel, and electric vehicles, ranging from golf carts, UTVs, and skid steer type equipment.
- Trained to handle and respond to bio-hazard spills in the park
- Plows or shovels snow and apply de-icing to pathways or building entrances. May use snowplows, snow throwers and salt spreaders.
- Additional duties as assigned.

This is a Part-time (not to exceed 24 hours per week), Non-Exempt, Collective Bargaining position. Hourly pay for this position ranges from $19.85-$20.95/hour based on experience as per union contract. This position includes working some weekends, holidays and evenings. Must have a valid Ohio Driver License. 18 or over to apply. Open until filled.
Normal Operations Hours:
- Wednesday 2:00pm-11:00pm
- Friday 2:00pm-11:00pm
- Saturday 2:00pm-11:00pm
Normal Operations Days Off:
- Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday
