Essential Functions
- Set priorities, procedures, and time schedules for completion of the work.
- Plans, schedules and coordinates the maintenance of all the accounting and statistical records of a major program or principal function
- Works alone with full responsibility for clerical accounting activities for a major program or office as needed
- Reviews and researches methods and procedures and suggests improvements or changes in the fiscal system to accomplish special objectives
- Plans, coordinates, monitors and participates in the preparation of complex accounting reports (i.e. payroll, garnishments, travel vouchers, mileage, etc.)
- Coordinates the establishment and maintenance of a variety of manual and computerized file and data base systems
- Answers questions or inquiries from employees, vendors and others
- Audits, validates and corrects records kept in the field or sent in by others
- Traces, reviews and reconciles records and support documents and determines corrective measures for adjusting discrepancies and errors
- Operates a variety of office equipment such as a computer with standardized and customized business software, printer, calculator, photocopier, and typewriter
- Utilizes resources such as rules, regulations, procedures and functions
- Promotes good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Maintains respect for confidential information
- Promotes good safety practices and procedures
- Performs related work as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Considerable knowledge in the methods, practices, and terminology of clerical accounting work
- Considerable knowledge of modern office practices and procedures
- Skill in establishing, maintaining, tracing and analyzing complex records and accounts through multiple steps
- Skill in preparing statistical and fiscal reports
- Skill in organization, time management, and decision-making
- Ability to delegate and coordinate the clerical accounting activities of office assistants
- Ability to work independently or under minimal supervision
- Ability to type and perform data entry at a speed determined at the time of the examination
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations
