What are the responsibilities and job description for the Copy Of Full Immersion Coordinator- Camp Y-Noah (31) position at Akron Area YMCA?
The Full Immersion Coordinator is Responsible for programming and running our Full Immersion camps such as Harry Potter Camp, Percy Jackson, and Survivor camps. This position work alongside the Resident Camp Lead Counselors and the Summer Camp director to ensure our overnight camp programs success. This position is a Support Staff position, which will require excellent communication skills, creativity, problem solving, and leadership skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 21 years of age and a High School graduate (preferred).
- At least one year of college or equivalent life/work-experience (preferred).
- At least one summer of camp experience (preferred)
- BCI/FBI background check results prior to first day of work; results must be compliant with ODJFS Prohibitive Convictions per 5101:2-12 and 5101:2-13 of the Ohio Administrative Code.
- Must be able to receive and apply critical feedback in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to make appropriate decisions regarding childcare and program.
- He or she must also pass First Aid and CPR training (offered during or before staff training).
THIS IS A LIVE ON SITE POSITION FROM MAY 11th THROUGH AUGUST 2nd
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS | SUPPORT STAFF
- Participate in the pre-camp training and planning process.
- Supervise and support counselors in a constructive way, giving, and listening to any feedback. Supporting and motivating staff in their daily activities; assisting where needed.
- Is responsible for ensuring high quality, engaging, and safe program delivery in all activity areas while ensuring the well-being of campers and staff.
- Supports the leading and organizing of staff meetings.
- Participate in and assist with both Resident Camp and Day Camp programs.
- Oversees all behaviors of campers and ensures that these behaviors are documented appropriately.
- Maintain a respectful and supportive relationship with all staff.
- Maintain all paperwork pertinent to the position.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for our camp, programs, and campers.
- Guides and assists others to complete all reports and documentation timely including but not limited to: incident reports, accident reports, camper behavior reports, child abuse reports, and other business office forms.
- Support Staff will have a key area of focus and serve as the Program Leader for that area Focus. This Program Leadership area of focus may have its own Essential Functions and qualifications for that Role which are described in the attached addendum. Examples include but are not limited to: Arts & Crafts, Waterfront, Media Specialist, Day Camp Lead, etc…
FULL IMMERSION COORDINATOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for Programming and Running Full Immersion activities.
- Create an activity schedule in conjunction with other camp program leaders.
- Assists with weekly cabin assignments for campers and staff.
- Helps lead and organize Resident Camp mealtime programs.
- Responsible for organizing weekly program evaluations.
- Leads full immersion camp staff and participants in addressing behavior issues and promptly documents all incidents.
- Helps to manage logistics for check in, and out.
- Collects and assists with counselor notes and parent packs.
- Responsible for checking in on every counselor working their program once a day.
- Must be certified or be willing to be certified as a Lifeguard or Belay Trained
