Our Hudson Valley Traffic and Transportation group works on transformative projects throughout the area, with a focus on Complete Streets, roadway safety, and municipal engineering. We are seeking a Senior Project Engineer/Planner in our Traffic and Transportation group to help drive the next generation of traffic and transportation solutions and improve roadway safety for our local communities. Our staff is exposed to a diverse experience in a broad range of regional, state, and municipal planning and engineering projects. The successful candidate will support traffic/transportation engineering design and planning projects throughout New York for AKRF’s Traffic and Transportation group located in White Plains, NY. Qualified candidates will be able to prepare analysis and design documents including project deliverables, supervise and mentor junior staff, and participate in client meetings and presentations to public audiences and boards. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a focus on mentorship, growth, and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of the Hudson Valley and beyond.Job Responsibilities:Work within a team of professionals to develop traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for various transportation projects.Conduct comprehensive traffic impact studies to address multi-modal transportation issues, including those related to vehicular traffic, public transportation, pedestrian flow, street user safety, and parking.Conduct safety studies and road safety audits to develop comprehensive safety solutions for local communitiesPerform traffic modeling to simulate and analyze traffic flow and patterns, helping to predict and solve potential issues.Develop, analyze, and evaluate traffic improvement plans to enhance roadway safety and efficiency.Design roadways and intersections, ensuring they meet current safety standards and accommodate traffic flow effectively.Prepare and review technical memoranda and reports, ensuring accuracy and clarity in presenting findings and recommendations.Actively participate in meetings, including municipal board meetings, to share ideas with the team, clients, consultant partners, and other stakeholdersPrepare and deliver analysis findings, concerns, and recommendations clearly and concisely to clients and stakeholders.Manage small to mid-size projects and serve as a task leader, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the client's satisfaction.Strong desire to learn and share knowledge with other team members to develop solutions.Essential Requirements:5-7 years of experience.Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related fieldEIT Certification, Professional Engineer license, or AICP certification or ability to obtain suchMust have a valid driver’s licenseSkilled in the preparation of traffic impact analysesWorking knowledge of the ITE Trip Generation, ITE Parking Generation, HCM, MUTCD, AASHTO, PROWAG, NYSDOT HDMProficiency in AutoCAD for preparation of conceptual-level drawingsProficiency traffic engineering and planning software, such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, and AutoTurn.Working knowledge of GIS softwareProficiency with Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience developing Excel macros is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility and desire to attend and present at municipal board meetingsAbility to manage and meet multiple deadlinesAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyCompensationCompensation will range from $100k to $115k and commensurate with experience.
