About the RoleThe Finance department is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Controller to lead our accounting operations and help drive financial efficiency, compliance, and reporting accuracy. This individual will be a key partner to the CFO and senior leadership, bringing a strong understanding of the engineering consulting industry, especially within the ACEC framework, and a demonstrated commitment to financial integrity.Job Responsibilities:Oversee all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, payroll, cost accounting, and revenue recognitionLead the month-end and year-end close process with accuracy and timelinessEnsure compliance with FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), GAAP, and other regulatory frameworksManage internal and external financial audits and act as primary liaison with auditorsSupport the CFO with financial strategy, risk management, and long-term planningEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting to the executive team and BoardSupervise and develop accounting staff; foster a high-performance, accountable team cultureCollaborate with project managers and leadership on budget forecasting, job costing, and profitability analysisMaintain and continuously improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsManage indirect cost rates and prepare overhead rate submissions to various State and Local agencies.Partner with HR and operations on payroll, benefits, and tax compliance mattersEssential Requirements:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceMinimum of 12 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership or controller rolePrior experience in the architecture, engineering, or environmental consulting industry; ACEC-member firm background highly preferredDeep knowledge of project-based accounting, FAR, and indirect cost rate calculationsCompensationCompensation will range from $170K to $200K and commensurate with experience.
