Assistant Controller

The Opportunity

A high-growth organization is partnering with our recruiting firm to hire an Assistant Controller who will serve as a key partner to the Corporate Controller and play an important role in strengthening accounting operations as the business continues to scale.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working with large volumes of data, and building processes that make an organization better. You’ll join a fun, energetic, collaborative team where accounting works closely with operations and field employees to understand the business and ensure financial activity is accurately reflected under GAAP.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as the Controller’s right hand, with a strong focus on accounting operations, financial accuracy, and scalable processes.
• Reconcile large and complex datasets across a high-volume asset base
• Translate operational and system activity into accurate, GAAP-compliant accounting.
• Partner closely with operations and field teams to understand business processes and determine the appropriate accounting treatment.
• Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and drive issues through resolution.
• Work extensively in Excel to analyze, organize, and reconcile large volumes of financial and operational data.
• Develop clear, repeatable accounting procedures and documentation that can scale with continued company growth.
• Support general ledger activity, reconciliations, financial reporting, and other accounting operations.
• Help improve accounting workflows, controls, systems, and processes as the organization evolves.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure accounting accurately reflects what is happening operationally in the business.

What We’re Looking For

• Approximately 5–7 years of operational accounting experience.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Demonstrated experience reconciling large, complex datasets and identifying discrepancies.
• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to confidently navigate large and sophisticated workbooks.
• Strong accounting fundamentals and the ability to understand how operational activity flows through the general ledger.
• Highly organized and able to break complex accounting challenges into manageable, well-documented processes.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work directly with accounting, operations, and field teams.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in an environment where processes, systems, and accounting requirements continue to evolve.
• Collaborative, team-oriented, and willing to jump in wherever needed.
• Personable, engaged, and energized by working with a fun, fast-moving team.

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

• Sage Intacct
• Ramp
• Avalara
