Software Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Software Engineer for one of our clients in San Jose, California.

Rate Range: $50.00/hour to $60.00/hour; the rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Reporting to the Global Manufacturing IT team, this role supports and develops manufacturing applications, including Automation, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), and other factory-related systems. The position is responsible for application development, system support, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Please note, we are not able to work on C2C for this role.

For this particular assignment, must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and develop manufacturing applications, including Automation and MES systems.
• Work with business users to gather requirements and define system specifications.
• Design, develop, implement, maintain, and support manufacturing applications.
• Ensure system availability and uptime for production users.
• Monitor application performance and drive continuous improvements.
• Participate in evaluating and implementing new technologies and solutions.
• Troubleshoot application and database issues as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of IT software development experience.
• Understanding of system analysis and software development methodologies.
• Strong SQL and database design experience.
• Good project coordination and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Responsible, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Experience following coding standards and software development best practices.
• Manufacturing industry experience is preferred, especially in the electronics sector.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
• Knowledge of equipment integration, transaction automation, and data integration.
• Familiarity with Java, AS400, Linux, and Data Integration Services.
• Experience with AI/ML technologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of manufacturing IT systems and production environments is an advantage.

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field required.
