The Operations Assessment Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports the planning, execution, analysis, and assessment of Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) exercises conducted by the Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) at Kirtland AFB. The SME provides operational expertise to assess training objectives, mission effectiveness, command and control integration, and operational outcomes during joint and coalition exercises such as VIRTUAL FLAG and other synthetic battlespace events. The DMOC serves as the Air Force's hub for distributed combat training exercises and integrates virtual and constructive simulations to support realistic operational environments for joint and coalition warfighters. Responsibilities * Develop and implement operational assessment methodologies, measures of effectiveness (MOEs), and measures of performance (MOPs) for large-force exercises and experiments.
- Support exercise planning conferences, mission analysis, scenario development, and execution rehearsals.
- Analyze operational outcomes related to Command and Control (C2), Air Operations Center (AOC) integration, kill chain effectiveness, joint fires, and tactical decision-making.
- Assess participant performance against exercise objectives and operational learning goals.
- Produce after-action reports (AARs), executive summaries, trend analyses, and briefing materials for senior leadership.
- Support white force operations and provide subject matter expertise during exercise execution.
- Coordinate with military, civilian, contractor, joint, and coalition partners to ensure exercise realism and assessment fidelity.
- Assist in integrating operational lessons learned into future exercise design and capability development.
- Evaluate operational data generated from LVC environments and simulation systems.
- Participate in scenario reviews to ensure training objectives and operational outcomes are measurable and achievable. Qualifications * Minimum 8-12 years of operational military experience in air, space, cyber, ISR, or joint operations.
- Experience supporting operational assessments, exercises, wargaming, test and evaluation, or training analysis.
- Familiarity with Air Operations Center processes, Joint Planning Process (JPP), and operational-level command and control.
- Experience in large-force employment exercises, distributed mission operations, or LVC training environments.
- Strong briefing, technical writing, and analytical skills.
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance required.
