JOB PURPOSE: The Afterschool Student Tutor and/or Rural Counselor will support Yupiit School District in providing tutoring and/or rural career guidance for students. This position may be combined to serve dual purposes (both student tutor and rural career guidance) for students or the duties of student tutor and rural career counseling may be divided between two people.

This position is grant funded, and there is a possibility that it will not be funded or available after the Term of Service.

Duties, Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Must pass a background
• Provide afterschool tutoring and academic assistance for students
• Maintain accurate records for student participation, including student sign-in sheets and staff time and effort sheets.
• Additional requirements for staff fulfilling Rural Career Counseling duties:

1. Rural Career Counseling online training from DEED/UAA
2. Alaska Career Information Systems (AKCIS) 360 online training

Qualifications:

1. Strong communication skills. (Required)
2. Able to connect will to students of all ages. (Required)
3. Ability to understand basic reading, math, and Language Arts
4. Ability to work well without direct supervision, as well as in a team
5. Ability to cultivate and maintain good relationships with a variety of different
6. Self-managing, flexible, adaptable, enjoys challenge (Required)
