Floor Counselor, Residential SUD Program

Position Summary

Provides overall direction for client activities on a day-to-day basis. Emphasis is placed on the training and supervision of clients in the effective and cooperative performance of their daily responsibilities and providing milieu counseling. Serves as a bridge between clients and counselors, to ensure behavior in the milieu is aligning with goals/objectives in the clients individual treatment plans.

**Principle Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:**

• Supervising and training client monitors including conducting performance reviews of those reporting directly to this position and conducting staff meetings.
• Assist and support in processing client behavior.
• Assist in medication calls and box runs.
• Assist in managing safety and health functions within the facility.
• Assist in urinalysis testing.
• Progress note interaction with clients.
• Monitors client performance in the occupational therapy aspect of their treatment.
• Oversees the functioning and training of the maintenance, kitchen, senior, procurement, creative energy, orientation, and transitional housing departments. Specific attention is to be given regarding the appropriate use of their authority.
• Schedules and supervises of client monitors and relief staff, minimizing overtime resource usage.
• Attends treatment team staffing, privileges determination and provide information on client behavior and progress.
• Participates in milieu education and training activities.
• Completes other duties as assigned in a timely and professional manner.
  
  

**Essential Functions-Any Equivalent Combination Of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience:**

• Ability to provide on-going monthly trainings for department heads and senior clients.
• Ability to assist the Treatment Program Manager by monitoring the client operation of the various facility functions that are a part of the on going work therapy.
• Assist in the orientation of newly admitted clients to the program.
• Ability to identify and assess a clients specific addictive behavior pattern, and how it applies to a clients behavior in the milieu.
• Ability to function and effectively communicate in a interdisciplinary team approach.
• Ability to function under stress.
• Ability to assist and support hostile clients, sexual offenders, and resistant clients towards progress on their treatment plan goals and objectives.
• Ability to function independently without continual supervision.
• Ability to regularly attend position.
