Quality Manager – Steel Fabrication
The Quality Manager oversees the quality control function in a steel fabrication facility, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. This role is responsible for leading the QC team, maintaining certifications, and driving continuous improvement in processes, safety, and product reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain quality systems and standards for steel fabrication processes.
- Supervise QC inspectors across all shifts and ensure testing meets specifications.
- Write and analyze test procedures; maintain documentation of results.
- Oversee non‑conformance reports, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO and AISC accreditation.
- Ensure compliance with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel.
- Communicate and resolve quality issues across production and management teams.
- Hire, train, and develop QC staff; conduct training sessions.
- Promote employee ideas for improvements in quality, safety, and work environment.
- Coordinate special quality projects and maintain inspection records.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum 4 years of quality management in steel fabrication.
- AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification (current or previous).
- ASNT SNT‑TC‑1A Level II certification in ultrasonic and magnetic particle inspection.
- Experience with ISO or AISC audits/certifications.
- Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead teams and work independently on projects.
- Proficiency in MS Office; ERP software experience preferred.
Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
