Job Summary:
As an Experienced Seasonal Tax Preparer, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and complete individual and small business tax returns. You will work directly with clients to gather tax-related information, answer questions, and ensure timely filing of federal and state returns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal and state individual tax returns (1040) and, if applicable, small business returns (Schedule C, 1065, 1120, etc.)
- Review client documents for completeness and accuracy
- Conduct client interviews (in person, by phone, or virtually) to gather necessary information
- Stay updated on tax laws and IRS regulations
- Provide excellent client service and maintain client confidentiality
- Identify potential tax credits and deductions to ensure accurate returns
- Use tax software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSeries, TaxSlayer, etc.) to complete filings
- E-file returns and assist clients with payment or refund options
- Respond to IRS or state notices if necessary
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of recent tax preparation experience
- Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes
- PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number) required
- EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA certification preferred, but not required
- Experience with tax preparation software (please specify which)
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work extended hours during peak season
Compensation:
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience
