Norstar Apartments in Liverpool, NY is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Custodian / Porter to join our property management team.

This is an important role in the daily appearance, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of the community. Position Summary

The Custodian / Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the apartment community, including common areas, building interiors, restrooms, windows, floors, trash areas, and janitorial spaces.

This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, organized, and able to work independently while also supporting the larger property team.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming
• Clean windows, glass doors, mirrors, and other visible surfaces
• Clean and restock restrooms and common area supplies
• Remove trash, empty waste containers, and maintain trash areas
• Keep hallways, stairwells, elevators, laundry rooms, offices, clubhouse areas, and other common spaces clean and presentable
• Maintain cleaning logs or charts showing areas cleaned and inspected
• Replenish cleaning and janitorial supplies as needed
• Organize janitorial closets and storage areas
• Report unsafe conditions, damage, maintenance concerns, or supply needs to the supervisor
• Follow assigned cleaning schedules and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Use cleaning products, tools, and equipment safely and properly
• Support the team with general property upkeep as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior janitorial, custodial, porter, housekeeping, or property maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to perform physical work throughout the day
• Ability to operate standard janitorial equipment and power equipment normally used in custodial work
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to follow schedules, directions, and company procedures
• Ability to read and understand written instructions
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to completing assigned work
• Professional attitude when interacting with residents, visitors, vendors, and team members
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures and comply with company policies
