Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Afterschool Director to join our early childhood education team. In this role, you will support classroom teachers in creating a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for infants through Pre-Kindergarten aged kids. Your primary focus will be getting to know the afternoon staff, the children, and the parents for pickup. The candidate must be able on work Monday-Friday from 2:00-6:30, no exceptions.
Responsibilities
- Managing the afternoon staff.
- Support classroom management and behavior guidance to promote positive social interactions
- Subbing in classes, as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment in compliance with health and safety standards
- Provide emotional support and comfort to children as needed
- Support lead teachers in documenting developmental progress and communicating with parents
- Assist with diapering, feeding, and other caregiving duties.
- Participate in ongoing training related to childhood development, safety procedures, and classroom management techniques
Skills
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and age-appropriate activities for toddlers
- First aid certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Strong understanding of classroom management and behavior management strategies
- Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities or special needs
- Experience with infant care, caregiving, babysitting, nannying, or related roles is a plus
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and engaging with parents
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine passion for early childhood education and nurturing young learners
