AJ Glass is looking for a motivated Estimator I to join our in-office team in Marietta, GA. In this role, you'll handle more complex scopes of work with guidance, interface with general contractors, and take ownership of your estimates from start to finish.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in preparing detailed pricing for commercial glazing scopes, including curtain wall, storefront, aluminum framing, hardware, and specialty glass, with guidance from senior team members as needed.
- Send Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to vendors for materials such as aluminum systems, ballistic glass, and hardware- Ensuring accuracy and timely follow-up.
- Communicate with general contractors following internal review to clarify scope or confirm project details.
- Support awarded projects by running accounting budgets to ensure accurate handoff and financial tracking.
- Draft clear and concise Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve gaps in project documentation.
- Manage Change Order Requests (CORs), ensuring all revisions are properly documented and communicated
- Ensure all estimate details are accurate, complete, and handed off clearly—take ownership and pride in the quality of your work.
- 1-2 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, ideally with a focus on glazing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management is a plus, but we also highly value hands on experience.
- Familiarity with glazing systems, aluminum storefronts, curtain walls, and related materials.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable reading architectural drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, and familiarity with construction management platforms (Procore).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, solution-oriented, and eager to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to walk, stand, or climb ladders for extended periods during site visits as needed
- Comfortable navigating active construction sites, sometimes in varying weather conditions when required.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally (project materials, plans, samples).
