AGV Technician - Palmdale

Summary:
The AGV Technician is responsible for powering up Automated Guided Vehicles, AGVs, diagnose any problem areas (gears, reducers, motors, electrical, etc.), repairing, and, preparing them for factory acceptance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work both independently and as a team to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Hands-on integration, modifying and repair of AGVs, their supporting equipment and systems controls to meet required customer specifications.
• Assist the project team in developing necessary project processing parameters.
• Perform engineering and manufacturing functions for retrofit projects including, but not limited to, customer contact, hardware design, software design, scheduling, materials coordination, build, and implementation
• Provide AGV and system programming assistance both in-house and in the field.
• Safely and professionally operate common power and hand tools and general workshop equipment
• Plan, schedule and deliver completed work to meet agreed deadlines, working as a team or as an individual
• Assisting the customer’s needs by installing the AGVs, supporting equipment and system controls, training their staff to operate the equipment and provide support to the customer, either on-site or remotely by phone, video conference, and/ or remote access communications from off site.
• Being professional, helpful, commercially aware and safety conscious as a representative of the company.
• Being available outside normal hours of work to assist with customer support when necessary
• Train others to operate equipment and produce products safely and efficiently.
• Observes all company safety policies and procedures as well as maintain good housekeeping.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Work Experience:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• One to three years related experience with AGVs and/or training.
• PLC’s, C, C , C# or Structured Text programing and experience with automation and controls.
• CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.); the ability to proficiently create and read schematics or drawings.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements:

• This position may require a government security clearance.

• Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

• Achieves thoroughness and accuracy when accomplishing a task through concern for all the areas involved.
• Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
• Understands how to use the computers, including such tasks as turning the computer on and off, locating and opening files, navigate to websites, perform searches, and download files.
• Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, word-processing program and spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Office).
• Respond and follow up to a customer’s inquiry or problem in a timely and effective manner.
• Identifies problems and review relevant information to develop options, then implement the solutions.
• Works effectively with different levels of management, team members and customers.

Work Conditions:Environment Type:

• Indoors. Production and office environment. Temperature controlled, unless products and/or equipment is located outdoors.

• Noisy environment

Work Hours:

• Standard work schedule, overtime may be necessary for meeting deadlines, required travel, and emergent conditions.

Travel Requirements:

• Remote - perform job responsibilities from customer work sites.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
• Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
