A day in the life
The plant is quiet on third shift, and thats when your craft shines. You start with a walk-through, eyes scanning for wear and tear, ears tuned for the slightest unusual sound that hints at a malfunction. You test equipment, review readings, and when somethings off, you diagnose, dismantle, and rebuildfrom replacing gears and bearings to swapping out valves and regulators. One moment youre programming automated machinery; the next, youre laying out a run of hydraulic and pneumatic piping or welding a quick repair to keep production moving.
What youll take on
- Install, maintain, and repair production machinery, facility systems, and both pipe and electrical infrastructure.
- Visually inspect and test equipment; listen for atypical sounds and discuss operating variations to pinpoint root causes.
- Dismantle defective machines and install new or reconditioned components.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other mechanical assemblies.
- Install/repair electrical apparatus (e.g., transformers, wiring) and electronic components tied to machinery and equipment.
- Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems; service hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
- Repair or replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related hardware.
- Maintain and repair the facilitys physical structures.
- Install, program, or repair automated/robotic equipment and machinery.
- Set up and run machine tools to repair or fabricate parts, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Use cutting torches and welding equipment to fabricate and repair.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance; other duties may be assigned.
What you bring
- Comfort with shop math: calculate percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to read/interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
- Clear communicator with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Uncompromising attention to safety, detail, and quality.
Pre-employment requirement: MUST pass a drug screen, physical, and background check prior to employment
Nice to have
- Prior experience in a general maintenance role.
- Hands-on exposure to Mitsubishi PLC and/or Omron PLC environments.
Education
- One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or two (2) to four (4) years of related experience and a high school diploma or G.E.D., or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
Schedule, travel, and attendance
- 3rd Shift position.
- Approximately 0 % travel; must be willing and available to travel to such locations and with such frequency as is necessary and desirable to meet business needs.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance record; willing and available to work weekends and holidays as needed to meet business needs.
