Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist/Machine Technician to support machining operations, prototype fabrication, equipment setup, and dimensional inspection activities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on machining knowledge, experience operating CNC equipment, and a solid understanding of precision measurement and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and support CNC milling and/or turning equipment
- Perform machine setup, tooling setup, work offsets, and fixture preparation
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications
- Select appropriate cutting tools, feeds, and speeds for different materials and applications
- Support prototype machining, fabrication, and process development
- Perform dimensional inspections using precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, and other metrology equipment
- Verify machined part quality and maintain inspection records
- Troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues
- Support preventive maintenance and shop organization
- Coordinate with engineering teams on manufacturability and machining improvements
- Follow all shop safety and operational procedures
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience operating CNC machines and machining equipment
- Strong understanding of machining fundamentals and manufacturing processes
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand tolerances/GD&T
- Experience with precision measurement and inspection techniques
- Familiarity with machining materials such as aluminum, copper, stainless steel, and engineering plastics
- Strong understanding of G-code and CNC programming concepts
- Strong troubleshooting and hands-on mechanical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAM software
- Experience with manual mills, lathes
- Knowledge of fixture design and tooling selection
- Prototype or low-volume manufacturing experience
- Technical school or machining/manufacturing related background preferred
