Job Summary
Own the organization, control, and issue/return of all tooling, mold components, and consumables for injection molding operations. Maintain inventory accuracy, readiness, and traceability so production never waits for tools. Cross-trained to back up Warehouse for shipping, receiving, material movements, and safe forklift operation.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct reports. Will train peers on crib and inventory best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
Tooling Crib (Primary)
Issue/return control: kit, stage, and issue tooling (e.g. cores, cavities, pins, inserts, ejector sleeves, cutters, nozzles, heaters, sensors); verify condition on return and post transactions in Netsuite (ERP System)
Inventory Management: maintain min/max, reorder points, and bin locations; perform daily cycle counts; prevent stockouts of critical spare components and consumables (e.g. o-rings, fasteners, sprays, lubricants).
Readiness and kitting: build cell-ready tooling carts with BOM/parts list, setup sheets, and associated fasteners/gaskets; confirm correct revision level by mold number and cavity.
Tool life tracking: log usage, sharpen/replace intervals, and serial/lot IDs; coordinate external sharpening/regrind or vendor repairs; maintain calibration records for gauges used in the crib.
Documentation and traceability: maintain issue tickets, return logs, and conformance tags aligned to work orders and mold numbers to support traceability.
Housekeeping/5S: maintain immaculate, labeled storage (shadow boards, drawers) with FIFO for consumables and red-tag area for suspect tools).
Any other duties as required by the manager.
Follow all safety and company policies and guidelines.
Warehouse (Secondary)
Receiving: unload trucks; inspect for damage/quantity; verify COAs/packing slips; label and book items into ERP; route to crib/warehouse; escalate discrepancies.
Shipping: pick, pack, and protect parts per packaging specs; print labels, BOLs/packing lists; stage by carrier lane; close shipments in ERP; coordinate pickups (parcel, LTL, hot‑shot).
Material movements: move finished goods, raw resin, and tooling between warehouse, crib, and production cells; maintain aisle and dock safety.
Forklift/equipment: safely operate sit‑down/stand‑up forklifts, pallet jacks, and tuggers; complete pre‑use inspections; perform basic battery/LP checks; report defects immediately.
Inventory control: support weekly cycle counts, monthly reconciliations, and physical inventories (finished goods, raw, MRO/tooling).
Required Skills & Abilities
Proficiency with ERP/WMS transactions (issue/return, pick/pack/ship, receipts, cycle counts).
Ability to read part drawings, mold numbers, BOMs, and understand revision control; use calipers/micrometers for basic checks.
Certified forklift operator or able to obtain certification within 30 days of hire; strong safety record.
Computer literacy: Excel/Sheets, label software, barcode scanners/printers.
Exceptional organization/5S habits, attention to detail, and service mindset toward production.
Clear, professional communication with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Purchasing.
Ability to pass a background screen.
Ability to work overtime by business needs.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
1 year in a tool room, maintenance crib, machine shop, or warehouse environment (plastics/injection molding strongly preferred).
Preferred: experience with injection mold components (cores, cavities, ejector systems, hot runner components), tool steel nomenclature, and coatings.
Physical Requirements
Frequently lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally more with assistance or lift devices.
Stand/walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, reach, and climb short ladders/step stools.
Work around forklifts and material handling equipment; tolerate moderate noise and temperature/humidity variation.
Regular handling of oils/greases/solvents and packaged chemicals—follow SDS and PPE requirements.
