Airspeed LLC is seeking a Crib Attendant for our manufacturing facility in Mebane, North Carolina. This is a replacement role that supports production by keeping tools, mold components, consumables, materials, and related records organized, accurate, and ready when needed.
This is a good fit for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable being the person others rely on to keep production moving. The right person may come from a tool crib, warehouse, inventory, machine shop, maintenance crib, manufacturing, or cable assembly background. What matters most is accuracy, follow-through, documentation discipline, and the ability to use systems correctly.
The Tool Crib Attendant will report to the Plant Buyer and will primarily support tooling crib and inventory activity. The role will also provide backup support for warehouse activities and will be scheduled periodically to support technical cable assembly work, such as crimp validation, testing, inspection, labeling, documentation, and related controlled production tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Kit, stage, issue, and receive tooling, mold components, spare parts, and production consumables.
- Verify tool and component condition when items are issued and returned.
- Complete required ERP, inventory, issue/return, receiving, and documentation transactions accurately.
- Maintain bin locations, reorder points, min/max levels, inventory records, labels, and traceability information.
- Support daily cycle counts and help prevent stockouts of critical tooling components and consumables.
- Build productionready tooling carts with required parts, setup information, fasteners, gaskets, and related materials.
- Confirm correct part numbers, mold numbers, revision levels, quantities, and documentation before releasing items for use.
- Track tool usage, replacement intervals, sharpening or repair needs, serial numbers, lot numbers, and related records.
- Maintain organized, labeled, clean, and productionready crib storage using strong 5S practices.
- Keep issue tickets, return logs, conformance tags, inventory records, and traceability documentation complete and accurate.
- Support receiving, shipping, picking, packing, labeling, staging, and material movement as backup.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related materialhandling equipment as backup after training and authorization.
- Use tools and equipment such as barcode scanners, label printers, calipers, micrometers, hand tools, wire strippers, crimpers, test equipment, forklifts, and pallet jacks as assigned.
- Support selected cable assembly activities during scheduled periods, generally about two weeks per quarter or as business needs require.
- Follow approved work instructions, drawings, travelers, inspection requirements, and quality documentation for assigned cable assembly work.
- Verify materials, labels, connectors, terminals, part numbers, quantities, and revision levels before beginning assigned work.
- Identify and report damaged materials, missing components, tooling concerns, drawing issues, process problems, defects, or documentation discrepancies.
- Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, quality requirements, and company policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
This role is for someone who takes ownership of organization, accuracy, and readiness. Production should not have to wait because a tool, component, label, record, or material cannot be found.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- At least 1 year of experience in a tool room, maintenance crib, warehouse, inventory, manufacturing, machine shop, production support, cable assembly, or similar handson environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to complete ERP, inventory, receiving, issue/return, pick/pack/ship, cycle count, and documentation transactions accurately.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, part drawings, mold numbers, BOMs, travelers, labels, and revisioncontrolled documents.
- Ability to use basic measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to use computers, spreadsheets, barcode scanners, label printers, and related production or inventory systems.
- Strong organization and 5S habits.
- Clear and professional communication with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Purchasing, Warehouse, and leadership.
- Ability to perform detailed handson work with consistency, accuracy, and care.
- Ability to maintain traceability, documentation accuracy, and proper material control.
- Ability to become forklift certified after hire.
- Ability to work occasional overtime based on business needs.
- Ability to pass a background screen.
Helpful experience:
- Tool crib, maintenance crib, warehouse, inventory control, machine shop, or manufacturing support experience.
- Injection molding, plastics, mold components, cores, cavities, ejector systems, hot runner components, tooling, or production consumables.
- Cable assembly, crimping, wire processing, electrical/mechanical assembly, inspection, testing, or similar detailed production work.
- Experience working in a qualityfocused or ISOstyle manufacturing environment.
Physical requirements:
- Frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift more with assistance or approved lift devices.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Bend, stoop, reach, and climb short ladders or step stools.
- Work around forklifts and materialhandling equipment.
- Tolerate moderate noise and normal manufacturing temperature or humidity variation.
- Handle oils, greases, solvents, and packaged chemicals while following SDS and PPE requirements.
- Perform repetitive hand and finger movements associated with labeling, inspection, smallpart handling, crimping, and assemblyrelated tasks.
- Visually inspect tools, components, labels, connectors, terminals, materials, and related items for accuracy and workmanship.
