2. Position SummaryThis pivotal role requires a blend of high-level commercial strategy and hands-on domestic execution. The Director will serve as the details manager for our commercial portfolio, driving new business evaluations, managing cross-functional alignment between our operations and target markets, and executing high-purity gas contracts. Your mission is to rapidly secure domestic market share, navigate complex supply chains, and build a scalable commercial engine from scratch.
3. Scope of ResponsibilitiesA. Market Strategy, Product Positioning & Pipeline Generation- Targeted Customer Engagement: Execute structured outreach campaigns targeting procurement, engineering, and material managers within the semiconductor fabrication, aerospace, lighting, and advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Network Activation: Leverage an established professional network (Rolodex) of industrial gas buyers, tier-1 manufacturers, and regional distributors to rapidly secure business meetings and market entry.
- Technical Qualification & NPD Support: Translate complex customer requirements—such as specialized product attributes, flow rates, and high-purity specifications ($5\text{N}/6\text{N}$)—into actionable supply proposals; actively guide New Product Development (NPD) to ensure seamless domestic market introductions.
- Deal Closure & Lifecycle Strategy: Spearhead the end-to-end sales cycle, structuring and negotiating sustainable, multi-year supply agreements that secure long-term volume commitments and optimized pricing.
- Internal Readiness Liaison: Serve as the central point of coordination between Sales, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure absolute alignment on corporate priorities, customer commitments, and delivery expectations.
- Dynamic Pricing & Margin Management: Build, evaluate, and continuously optimize dynamic pricing models and cost-benefit analyses that protect gross margins while navigating domestic supply constraints and raw material fluctuations.
- Cross-Functional Conflict Resolution: Proactively identify operational friction points across departments; implement streamlined documentation, clear communication channels, and structured processes to align aggressive sales goals with logistical realities.
- Forecasting & CRM Ownership: Own short- and long-term product forecasting and market intelligence by combining sales pipelines, customer insights, and internal planning via a lean CRM tool.
- Quality Assurance & Technical Metrology: Thoroughly evaluate Certificates of Analysis (COAs), technical gas data sheets, and analytical chemistry documentation to ensure strict compliance with customer quality standards, partnering with operations to manage reliability expectations.
- Asset Optimization & Fleet Planning: Manage fleet sizing, cylinder/ISO tank rotation, percent loading, and asset investment decisions to optimize high-value delivery equipment and packaging.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Oversee U.S. distribution, transport protocols, and last-mile logistics to ensure strict adherence to DOT, OSHA, EPA, and applicable industry safety obligations.
- Strategic Risk Mitigation: Partner with finance to establish credit-check policies, standardized payment terms (e.g., Net 30/60), and operational readiness plans to protect corporate capital.
- Industry Expertise: 5–10 years of aggressive business development, account management, or technical product management explicitly within the industrial gas, specialty gas, electronic gas, or advanced chemical sectors. Broad exposure across multiple gas applications (semiconductor, aerospace, industrial) is strongly preferred.
- Business Acumen & Strategic Thinking: Strong understanding of gas market dynamics, profitability drivers, competitive benchmarking, and critical material positioning.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, drive clarity in product ownership, bridge organizational gaps, and resolve operational conflicts smoothly.
- Startup Mindset: Proven ability to build commercial readiness, introduce new product lines, and establish structured processes autonomously in an ambiguous, rapid-growth environment.
- Technical Fluency: High competency handling high-purity material specifications, cylinder/valve safety standards, and analytical documentation (COAs).
- Execution Focus: Proven track record of closing and managing B2B commercial contracts.
- Tools & Mobility: Proficiency with core business software and modern CRM/ERP platforms; willingness to travel regionally for on-site client negotiations, facility audits, and priority industry conferences.
- Ad Hoc Responsibilities: Perform other related commercial, operational, or tactical duties as assigned by the founders to support the shifting needs of a rapid-growth startup.
