About the Role:

The Lead Aircraft Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and airworthiness of general aviation aircraft. This position involves overseeing and performing complex maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of aircraft systems and components. The Lead Aircraft Mechanic will coordinate with maintenance teams to develop and implement maintenance schedules, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. This role requires a strong leadership presence to mentor junior mechanics and foster a culture of safety and precision. Ultimately, the Lead Aircraft Mechanic ensures that all aircraft are maintained to the highest standards, supporting safe flight operations and minimizing downtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in general aviation aircraft maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and general aviation maintenance practices.
  • Proven ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in an aviation maintenance environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Inspection Authorization (IA) certification helpful.
  • Experience with advanced avionics systems and troubleshooting.
  • Background in composite materials repair and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with maintenance tracking software and digital recordkeeping.
  • Additional certifications related to specific aircraft types or manufacturers.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed inspections, maintenance, and repairs on general aviation aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Lead and supervise a team of mechanics, providing technical guidance and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules to optimize aircraft availability and reliability.
  • Diagnose mechanical and avionics issues using specialized tools and equipment, and implement effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation to ensure regulatory compliance and facilitate audits.
