CRITICAL CARE FLIGHT PARAMEDIC

Join Alaska’s Premier Critical Care Air Ambulance Team

Alaska’s Trusted Critical Care Air Ambulance Provider | Exceptional Care Anytime, Anywhere

Fly critically ill patients across one of the most unique and challenging landscapes on Earth. At AirCare Alaska, you will serve as a vital partner in an Equal Team Model, delivering advanced life support and critical care in austere environments where you and your flight nurse partner are the sole clinical resources for patients who may be hours from definitive care.

Why AirCare Alaska?

  • Unmatched Schedule & Lifestyle: 10 days on / 20 days off with company-provided base housing while on shift. We cover your air travel to and from your assigned base from your home airport (must be a major hub).
  • Competitive Compensation: Starting salary $110,000 – $120,000 depending on experience, plus 3% 401(k) match and 85% employer contribution toward medical premiums (significantly above national averages for employer-sponsored coverage).
  • Advanced Fleet & Equipment: Operate the most advanced aircraft in Alaska — new Pilatus PC-24 NGX and Pilatus PC-24 Super Versatile Jet capable of short-field operations on gravel, snow, and ice. Fairbanks base includes a ground ambulance with Stryker PowerLoader and PowerStretcher. All missions are dual-pilot.
  • Industry-Leading Technology: Hamilton T1 and H900 ventilators, Karl Storz C-MAC PM video laryngoscopy, Zoll AutoPulse, Philips Avalon 30 fetal heart monitor, Sapphire multi-channel infusion pumps, and more. Charting in ImageTrend Elite; supply and inventory via Operative IQ; dispatched exclusively via our iOS/Android Computer Aided Dispatch system.
  • Safety Culture: “4 to Say Go, 1 to Say No” philosophy with a robust Timeout policy. Only air ambulance program in Alaska with FAA Part 65 credentialed dispatchers in a 24-hour Communication Center.
  • Expanded Scope of Practice: Operate under the medical direction of our Medical Directors using our iOS/Android Patient Care Guidelines and Medical Operations Manual. Expanded protocols tailored to Alaska’s austere environment.
  • Equal Team Model: Peer partnership with Critical Care Flight Nurses — shared clinical authority, mutual respect, and Just Culture principles.

Our Bases – Unique Alaskan ExperiencesKotzebue – Northwestern Gateway to the Arctic

Our northwesternmost base sits on the Baldwin Peninsula above the Arctic Circle, serving as the vital hub for the Northwest Arctic region and Iñupiat communities. Here, you will experience the true extremes of the Arctic: winters bring prolonged darkness, temperatures routinely plunging well below zero with brutal wind chills, and ice-bound landscapes that demand precision and resilience. The aurora dances across the sky, and the mission is pure austere medicine — remote villages, limited resources, and patients who depend entirely on you and your partner.

Fairbanks – Interior Alaska’s Golden Heart City

Our interior base operates from the heart of Alaska, near the University of Alaska Fairbanks and within reach of Denali. Fairbanks is famous for its continental extremes: winters can plunge to -40°F and colder with persistent ice fog and short days, while summers bring near-24-hour daylight, temperatures soaring into the 80s and occasionally the 90s, and a vibrant outdoor culture. The Fairbanks base features ground ambulance capabilities with Stryker loading systems, complementing our fixed-wing jet operations.

Sitka – Southeastern Temperate Rainforest Jewel

Our southeastern base is located on Baranof Island, facing the open Pacific Ocean. Sitka blends rich Tlingit culture with Russian colonial history (site of the 1867 Alaska transfer ceremony) amid a temperate rainforest of towering mountains, totem poles, and dramatic coastline. Milder winters than the Interior or Arctic, but frequent rain, wind, and the challenges of island logistics make every mission unique. The setting is stunning — mountains, ocean, and wildlife — while the clinical work remains high-acuity.

The Mission: Austere Critical Care at Its Finest

You will be a vital clinician treating patients in one of the most austere environments in the United States. In remote villages, rural clinics, or scene responses, you and your flight nurse partner are often the only advanced providers for hours. There is no backup team waiting in the next room. Decisions are collaborative under the Equal Team Model, guided by Just Culture principles, and executed with precision using the most advanced equipment available. You will manage complex ventilators, multiple infusions, advanced airways, trauma, high-risk obstetrics, pediatrics, and more — all while adapting to the physiological and operational demands of flight in Alaska’s challenging weather and terrain.
