Position Overview
The Flight Simulator Technician II is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing full-flight simulators and associated training equipment used to support pilot training operations for ATI and ABX Air. This role ensures all simulator systems operate reliably and meet FAA standards, supporting high-quality, uninterrupted pilot training. The position requires a strong foundation in electronics, mechanical systems, and computer-based technologies, along with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair flight simulators and associated training equipment.
- Perform repairs on digital and analog circuitry.
- Conduct visual system and display repairs, calibrations, and alignments.
- Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Perform bench-level component repair on off-equipment systems.
- Assist with and execute FAA Quality Test Guide (QTG) testing and documentation.
- Complete pre-flight and post-flight simulator checks.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
- Support continuous system readiness for pilot training operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Working knowledge of computer programming.
- Basic understanding of electronic principles, test equipment, soldering techniques, and computer systems.
- Minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience working with simulators or in an electronics/mechanical repair environment.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics or related field, equivalent vocational training, or military technical training.
