About the Job:

Airam is looking for experienced Health Care Actuarial/Financial Analysts to support a large multi-year engagement with the State of New York Department of Health (NYDOH) Medicaid program as well as several projects with the Federal Government.

 

Senior Actuarial/Financial Analyst

The Senior Actuarial/Financial Analyst supports the project team and is responsible for performing financial modeling and rate setting analyses. A senior actuarial/financial analyst also has project management responsibilities and must be a self-starter capable of developing client deliverables, organizing meetings, and producing output that is of a high quality. The salary range for this position will be $80k-$100k. There is opportunity to earn an annual bonus up to 10%. We also offer Paid Time Off as well as flexible hours.  

 

Key responsibilities include:

·      Engage in regular client and team communication

·      Collect and prepare the data necessary to support the project

·      Summarize and review base data to ensure that it is reasonable and appropriate for actuarial rate setting

·      Identify and communicate any concerns with the quality of the base data

·      Prepare models to determine the base data adjustments and actuarial rate setting assumptions, including incurred but not reported factors, program change impacts, trend projections and non-benefit expense loads

·      Create actuarial rate setting models and perform actuarial analyses

·      Draft written client communications

·      Communicate results of analyses to team members, clients and other stakeholders

·      Share expertise with client and team and work to resolve potential issues

·      Continuously develop Medicaid subject matter expertise, identify best practices and keep current on relevant Medicaid policy and regulations that impact actuarial rate setting

·      Facilitate team collaboration and knowledge sharing with clients

·      Drive excellent performance through knowledge and leadership

 

Qualifications include:

·      BA/BS degree in finance, economics, mathematics, actuarial science or a related field; Masters preferred

·      Three to five years of relevant health care actuarial or financial experience

·      Demonstrated experience leading rate setting data analysis projects

·      Demonstrated experience working with health care data

·      Strong analytical and mathematical skills

·      Successful completion of 1 - 3 actuarial exams preferred

·      Strong command of Excel, Powerpoint, SAS or SQL

·      Strong written and oral communication skills

·      Strong organizational and project management skills

·      Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and with a team

·      Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills
