JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant – Accounts Receivable is responsible for supporting accounts receivable, billing, and cash application processes. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of transactions, assists with reconciliations, and supports the monthly close process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounts Receivable Processing (40%)
• Prepare and issue invoices for various revenue streams
• Apply cash receipts and process deposits
• Maintain accurate customer account records
• Assist with Salesforce batch processing
Cash and Payment Processing (25%)
• Record and reconcile incoming payments
• Assist with reconciliation of payment processors
• Ensure deposits are recorded accurately
Collections and Customer Support (15%)
• Assist with monitoring AR aging and follow up on outstanding balances
• Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding billing and payments
Close and Reconciliations (10%)
• Assist with AR reconciliations
• Support month-end close activities as assigned
Administrative and Support Tasks (10%)
• Maintain documentation and filing systems
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and projects
Other Duties as assigned
REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of related experience.
Education and Experience Preferred
• Experience in nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, revenue and receivables processing

• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Required
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and revenue and receivables processing
• Experience with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, or similar systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
COMPENSATION:
AFA has a generous employee benefits package in addition to cash compensation. Our hiring range for this role is $59,360 - $67,500. WORKING CONDITIONS
Works out of Air & Space Forces Association’s headquarters in Arlington, VA. Office hours required are an eight-hour day. Operates in a professional office environment with travel to local offices, community partners, and events. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Must be able to work overtime and travel as needed
Salary : $59,360 - $67,500
