JOB SUMMARY: 

The AFA STEM Coordinator of Program Engagement and Outreach supports the promotion, outreach, and day-to-day execution of the CyberPatriot and StellarXplorers programs. This role is responsible coordinating communications, maintaining engagement platforms, and supporting programs operations for competition, camps, and elementary/senior citizen and alumni initiatives. This is a hybrid role. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Program Outreach and Engagement: (approximately 50% of effort) 

• Develop and update informational and promotional content for CyberPatiot and StellarXplorers programs. 

• Coordinate outreach to program participants, AFA Chapters and stakeholders via email, social media, monthly newsletters, and web platforms. 

• Support the execution of engagement plans in collaboration with Program Directors to ensure consistent and timely communication. 

• Maintain and update content across program websites and social media channels. 

• Coordinate distribution of t-shirts to competition participants. 

• Collaborate with AFA’s Communication department on press releases and promotional initiatives. 

• Travel, as needed, to support program promotion and outreach activities.  

STEM Program Administration (approximately 35% of effort): 

• Support registration for the CyberPatriot and StellarXplorers competitions. 

• Manage registration for CyberCamps and StellarCamps 

• Oversee annual curriculum and training material updates in coordination with CyberPatriot Manager of Operations.  

• Provide low-level technical support to program participants during competitions. 

• Compile data and support reporting efforts for registration reports, impact reports, and participant and alumni surveys. 

National Finals Competition support: (approximately 10% of effort) 

• Coordinate development and approval of event signage 

• Support planning and production of participant gear, swag, and program materials. 

• Assist with event logistics, including activities sponsorship engagement and team travel coordination. 

• Coordinate execution of the social media and press releases before, during, and after the event 

• Assist with on-site setup, teardown, and competition space reset.  

Other Duties as assigned: (approximately 5% of effort) 

• Provide general program support for the STEM Programs office as needed.  

• Assist with other duties and special projects as director by STEM program leadership. 

REQUIRED JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education and Experience Required: 

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred. 

• Must be able to travel (10%).

Working Conditions:  

• Works out of Air & Space Forces Association’s headquarters in Arlington, VA. 

• Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, subject to modification based on the needs of each program or site. 

• Operates in a professional office environment with travel to local offices, community partners, and events. 

• Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. 

• Must be able to work overtime. 

Physical Demands:  

The position requires sedentary work (sitting most of the time with no adverse environmental exposure) and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. The position also includes the following physical requirements:  

• The employee in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and may require travel to event locations and movement in varied locations.  

• The employee in this position needs to be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a copy machine and printer.  

• The employee is required to communicate and hold verbal conversations with others by means of the spoken word. Employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Salary : $24 - $27
