Position Summary
Reports To: HVAC Insulation Manager
Primary Job Function: The HVAC Insulator Team Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating insulation crews while performing and overseeing the installation of mechanical insulation systems. This position ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company standards, specifications, and industry best practices. The Team Lead serves as the primary point of contact between the crew and management and is responsible for maintaining productivity, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, direct, and support insulation crews on commercial and industrial HVAC projects.
- Coordinate daily work activities with the Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, and other trades.
- Assign tasks and monitor crew performance to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
- Install insulation on HVAC ductwork, piping systems, equipment, and related mechanical systems in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Measure, cut, fabricate, fit, and secure insulation materials for various applications.
- Install vapor barriers, weatherproofing systems, metal jacketing, and protective coverings.
- Perform quality inspections to ensure workmanship meets company and customer expectations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schedules, and work orders.
- Maintain project documentation and progress updates.
- Ensure company vehicles, tools, and equipment are maintained and operated safely.
- Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and manpower requirements.
- Mentor, train, and develop junior insulators and apprentices.
- Serve as the primary field contact for crew members and assist in resolving work-related issues.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical insulation experience, with demonstrated leadership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical insulation systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Proven ability to lead crews and manage project workflows.
- Strong communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
