Position Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Plan, conduct, and oversee research and investigations to understand biological processes and evaluate impacts on ecosystems, species, or natural resources.
- Perform scientific analysis and interpret biological, ecological, and environmental data to inform conservation initiatives or policy decisions.
- Apply biological science principles, methods, and techniques to support the management, protection, and restoration of natural resources.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including interdisciplinary teams, agencies, and the public, to address biological and ecological challenges.
- Develop technical reports, guidance documents, and strategies informed by laboratory experiments, field studies, and data modeling.
- Consult on the preservation and sustainable use of biological systems, evaluating environmental impacts and providing recommendations for improvement or mitigation.

Required Qualifications
- United States Citizens.

- SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year or 52 weeks of specialized experience at the next lower grade of position being advertised, or equivalent in other pay systems.

- Research Biological Scientist 0401 ( opm.gov )
- Master’s degree in biology, biostatistics, computational biology, or related field (desired).
- PhD in a relevant field (desired).
- Expertise in vitro research (e.g., cell culture, microscopy, molecular biology, genomics analysis).
- Proficiency in vivo animal research, including IACUC protocol development and study execution.
- Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and experience presenting at scientific conferences.
- Leadership in managing interdisciplinary research teams and projects.
- Proficiency in cell culture, molecular biology (PCR, qPCR, Western Blot, ELISA), cytotoxicity assays, microscopy, and flow cytometry.
- Strong analytical skills for complex biological datasets.
- Excellent communication, project management, teamwork, and mentorship abilities.
- Ability to develop innovative solutions for scientific challenges.
