The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time General Engineer, GG‑0801-14, to serve as a Senior Systems Engineer for the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Rapid Capabilities Office – Field Support Unit, Directorate of Operations (DAFRCO-FSU/TED), Kirtland Air Force Base (AFB), New Mexico.
Moving expenses may be paid
Salary range: $148,275 – $197,200 based on experience.
This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.
Depending on the type of position you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1‑year probationary period OR 2‑year trial period.

Qualifications/Requirements
In the position, you will serve as a senior professional engineer with systems engineering responsibility in assigned areas. The role supervises and manages all Directorate of Operations (DO) Systems Engineering oversight and technical activities. You will be considered the organization’s technical expert for general engineering assignments involving electronics and software design and test, configuration management, and systems engineering related to advanced Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems and technologies.
Degree: engineering or engineering technology that is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

- This position is designated as a Drug Test Designated Position
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a “Top Secret” security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
- Incumbent may be subject to a counterintelligence scope polygraph
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required level of Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification within 9 months.
- Incumbent is required to sign an annual Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
- This is a Mission Essential & Key Position. Active Guard and Reserve personnel are not qualified.

- Knowledge of advanced concepts of physics and engineering to serve as an expert in evaluating emerging technological advances.
- Knowledge of security management and acquisition procedures, including DoD policy.
- Management and leadership skills to direct AFRCO‑FSU and DoD sponsored initiatives.
- Skill in formulating and assessing advanced technologies applied to sensor‑to‑sensor cueing and sensor‑to‑shooter strike systems.
- Knowledge of management of scientific and engineering programs.
- Ability to make critical independent decisions and influence top‑level management.
