Museum Education Specialist

AFCS is currently seeking a full-time Museum Education Specialist to work for the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), National Museum of the United States Air Force (NMUSAF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, OH. This position is in NH-1016-III which has a typical 2026 salary range of $92,841-$142,103 (including locality pay). The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Museum Education Specialist Responsible for aerospace education programs and curricular products developed and conducted through the National Museum of the USAF. The preferred candidate will possess extensive experience in analyzing, developing, and managing comprehensive educational programs for diverse audiences, ranging from the high school to adult level, with a focus on U.S. Air Force history and STEM subjects, preferably within a museum environment. This background must include creating and tailoring curriculum to meet national and state standards, managing program logistics and budgets, and successfully securing funding through grant writing. The candidate must be adept at strategic analysis and project management, with a demonstrated ability to evaluate organizational policies, recommend process improvements, and oversee complex projects from initiation to completion, including the delivery of status briefings to senior leadership. A key component of this role is proven experience in building and maintaining partnerships with educators, community leaders, and higher headquarters, as well as developing targeted communication strategies across various platforms to engage stakeholders and advance organizational missions.
