The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic (WG-5378-10) to join the "A-team" at the 97th Maintenance Group (MXG), Altus AFB, Oklahoma! In this role, you would troubleshoot, diagnose, test, repair, modify, overhaul, and service powered and non-powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE).

Hourly Wage Range: $35.11 - $40.96

QUALIFICATIONS

- US Citizenship is required.

- This is a drug testing position. The employee is subject to random drug testing.

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

- Work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle up to and including an 2-1/2 ton truck and tow ground equipment in and out of the repair facility and to and from the flightline sub-pools. An appropriate valid driver’s license would be required.

- Required to qualify for a restricted area badge and in certain situations, may be required to support aircraft as a flight line driver.

- This is a very physical role and the employee must be able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally may lift and carry items that way about 50 pounds with mechanical lifting devices or with assistance from other workers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Performs preventative maintenance on ground power and non-powered support systems. Checks equipment for fuel, lubricants, coolant, and battery water levels. Checks pumps, batteries, fan belts, and spark plugs for wear and tear or replacement. Checks engine performance, generator bearings, and oil and/or temperature indicators on a regular and reoccurring basis.

- Performs minor maintenance and assists journeymen with major maintenance on ground support and non-powered equipment such as power sources, components, support components, and associated equipment.

- Performs periodic routine and special inspections of all scheduled equipment.

- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

- Maintains and controls tools as established by the Air Force and the organization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILIITES (KSA’s)

- Knowledge of powered and non-powered aerospace ground support equipment to include principles of electricity (AC/DC), solid-state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to powered and non-powered support systems.

- Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel, gasoline engines, and gas turbine engines.

- Ability to read, interpret, and use wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, technical publications, and similar guides.

- Skill in using hand and power tools, instruments, test equipment, and electrical meters to include special tools such as hydraulic knockout tools, hammer drills, valve spring compressors and micrometers.
