We are currently seeking Dispatchers with a sense of ownership that display grit in their work to join our transportation team. Ensuring consistency, performance, and accuracy of the delivered services up to the customers’ aircrafts. This “air-side” function closely liaises with our customers to achieve exceptional quality of service.
Position Overview: Transportation Dispatcher
Reports to: Transportation Manager
Salary range: $19.00-$22.00/per hour, DOE
Work Condition: Warehouse/ Airfield-Transportation Department Function
Transport Dispatcher is responsible for monitoring the transport delivery versus plan. When irregular operations occur, makes changes to facilitate achieving the planned schedule. Adjustments might be to flight assignments, vehicles.
- Set up as a 2-man team on each shift to monitor transport planning and monitoring software. One to monitor, one to deal with escalations and back-up while on the floor/phone
- Monitors approximately 40 Catering Service Representatives and 5 Dock Loaders.
- Responsible to monitoring small teams and assisting them.
- Monitor changes to scheduled flights (aircraft, meal service, gate, arrival, departure (in SSD, Unimatic)
- Ensure timely dock unloading of trucks and truck availability; set priorities for un-loading
- Capture internal request for transport & monitor Dispatch Sheet
- Ensure fuel level of truck, complete vehicle check, check galley assembly; monitor loading of truck
- Monitor CSR progress to checkpoints versus schedule managing dock departure time & transport to the airport
- Supervisor de-catering and loading of aircraft while monitoring issues from concourse
- Monitor flights at airfield and interact with customer on issues and resolution
- Monitor transport scheduling software (365 Response) of progress versus plan
- Ensure clear access to the galleys (with cameras)
- Inform the customer of issues impacting adherence to schedule and service
- Capture alerts and requests from the airfield: CSR's, Concourse Coordinator
Respond to irregular operations:
- Make changes to CSR assignments and trucks
- For domestic flights top-up shortages/ provide extras
- Communicate delays and gate changes and traffic. Address irregular transport requirements
- Alert customer of possible service issues (late, short, delays, etc.)
- If changes require 'out of spec' scheduling, escalate/alert to Transport Sup. and Mgr.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, bilingual Spanish helpful
- Team player, consider others and helps them complete tasks
- Excellent follow up skills, and ensuring follow through on all assigned tasks and responsibilities
- Proficient at using Excel, Outlook, navigating various websites, data entry, able to use a PC as part of the daily workflow
- Proactive, excellent attention to detail, and does well with multi-tasking
- Willing to adapt to 24/7 shifts and working hours; may work some weekends and nights
- Act with minimal instructions and figure it out quickly, follow rules, procedures.
Ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in the following areas
- In-flight catering experience & customer service driven
- Supervisory experience in a related industry is helpful
- Responds & thrives in high pressure situations, sees tasks through; Follow-up and follow through; Completes assigned tasks on time.
- Works through well in ambiguous situations; effectively shifts gears and executes a plan of action when situations arise outside of the normal day-to-day operations.
- Experience and/or ability to use computerized transport scheduling and monitoring system
- Must have effective leadership skills to successfully manage and direct ~20 CSR’s
- Confidence in one's own ability to achieve intended results and believes in their ability
- Willingness to take on new opportunities to learn.
