Primary Responsibilities

• Successfully mastered all of the job duties and responsibilities of the Journeyman II position.
• Demonstrates the ability to work alone or part of a team.
• Has acquired the training, knowledge, and skills for the installation and service of various types of Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems.
• Has good working knowledge, can diagnose issues, troubleshoot issues and is attending continuing education training for various building automation control systems such as Reliable, Carrier, and Trane.
• Perform service, start-up, and commissioning per manufacturer’s specifications for any type of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment including specialty zoned ductless mini split systems, variable air volume, high velocity/high pressure, hydronic systems, radiant in-floor, snow melt, baseboard, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, humidification, zoning, and zoning controls.
• Demonstrates and has the ability to troubleshoot and diagnose air flow and water flow issues no supervision.
• The ability to complete manufacturer’s or company’s start-up and commissioning paperwork completely and accurately.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment wiring diagrams and control schematics with no supervision.
• Skills to perform final low voltage wiring, controls wiring, controls final tie ins, terminations, temporary and final start-ups for any type of HVAC with no supervision.
• Be able to take airflow or water flow measurements and demonstrate the ability to comfort balance an air flow or water flow system with no supervision.
• Demonstrate good diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to perform service and warranty callbacks with no supervision.
• Ability to complete company required paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
• Good product knowledge and application skills.
• Produces quality workmanship while completing projects on time and on budget with few or no callbacks.
• Good working knowledge of mechanical code and quality control.
• Read, interpret, and carry out instructions as called for in blueprints, specifications, sequence of operation instructions, product installation, engineering, and owner’s manuals.
• Must be willing to help train and coach less skilled technicians.

GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or GED certificate is required.
• Minimum six years of commercial/industrial/residential service experience.
• HVAC Associates Degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
• Valid Colorado driver’s license with no major traffic violations, suspensions, or DUI’s in previous 5 years.
• No current or pending Workman Compensation Claims.
• Must successfully complete background check, drug screen, physical conditions of employment job screen, and team interview as condition of employment.
• Must provide proof of being EPA refrigerant certified Type II or Universal.
• Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and work proficiency with computers and hand-held devices such as smart phones, tablets, etc.
• Neat appearance accompanied with good listening and communication skills in order to communicate clearly with customers, fellow technicians, support staff, and supervisory personnel.
• Ability to get along with and work well with people on all levels.
• Can demonstrate the ability to use and interpret diagnostic and service equipment including but not limited to volt ohm meter, amp clamp, manometer, refrigeration manifold gauges, vacuum gauges, combustion analyzer, reclaim machine, nitrogen regulator, vacuum pump, digital thermometer, air hood, and pitot tube traverse.
• Certification or proven skills in brazing techniques utilizing an oxygen/acetylene torch.
• Working knowledge of mechanical code.
• Working knowledge of personal protective equipment and safety practices.
• Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions on rooftops, outside of buildings, and residences, crawlspaces, attics, and other types of confined spaces.
• Perform physical work that requires the regular use of fingers, hands, walking, stooping, and kneeling. Regularly lift or move up to 10lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move more that 50lbs.
• Work from either a step ladder, extension ladder, or man lift with no fear of heights.
• Demonstrate an on-going willingness to continue education through available company and industry sponsored training.
• Good work ethic and the desire to advance professionally and personally.
• Demonstrate good customer service skills, communication skills, mechanical aptitude, and common sense judgement.
• Ability to maintain a positive, willing, and trainable attitude.
• Ability to get along with and work well with people on all levels.
• Work flexible hours on occasion depending on service access requirements.
• Demonstrate a willingness to continue education through available company and industry training.
