Job Summary:
Our GDI Ainsworth Mechanicsburg, PA office is looking to add an experienced HVAC Service Technician who will be responsible for overseeing daily service work / activities on commercial / industrial projects and jobsite safety. The HVAC Service Technician will also provide hands‑on training, guidance, and mentorship to junior apprentices, helping to build a skilled and reliable field team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead installation crews and oversee daily HVAC installation activities
- Install and supervise installation of commercial and industrial HVAC equipment including rooftops, chillers, boilers, air handlers, and exhaust systems
- Read, interpret, and explain blueprints, layouts, and job specifications
- Plan work sequences, crew assignments, and material needs
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades
- Ensure installations meet company standards, code requirements, and project schedules
- Oversee rigging, equipment setting, piping, ductwork, and insulation installation
- Assist with system testing, start-ups, and commissioning support
- Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations
- Maintain jobsite organization, material tracking, and daily reporting
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to installers and apprentices
Qualifications:
- 5 years of commercial or industrial HVAC service experience
- Proven experience leading crews or acting as a service technician
- EPA Section 608 Certification
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Solid understanding of HVAC codes, tools, and installation practices
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
- Able to lift up to 75 lbs
- Able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in indoor/outdoor conditions
- Able to stand, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
