Job Overview
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse – Hematology/Oncology to provide specialized outpatient nursing care within the Hematology/Oncology and Infusion Clinic at Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC). The RN will support physicians and healthcare teams in the administration of infusion therapies, chemotherapy, biologic medications, and supportive care for patients with hematologic, oncologic, autoimmune, and infusion-related conditions. Duties include patient assessment, infusion therapy administration, medication monitoring, patient education, care coordination, and emergency response while ensuring compliance with DHA and military healthcare standards.
General Duties
- Provide services within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
- Perform duties in accordance with the PWS, DHA standards, and MTF policies.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, oncology safety, infection prevention, and patient safety regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement, readiness activities, peer review, and staff training.
Specific Duties
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for hematology/oncology patients.
- Obtain patient histories, perform physical assessments, monitor vital signs, and evaluate treatment responses.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologic agents, blood products, IV fluids, and supportive medications according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients for infusion reactions, side effects, and adverse events and initiate emergency response procedures when necessary.
- Manage IV access, central lines, infusion pumps, and specialty clinic equipment.
- Assist providers with infusion-related procedures and specialty treatments.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, chemotherapy side effects, symptom management, and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical record documentation for treatments, assessments, and patient encounters.
- Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and ancillary departments.
- Participate in quality assurance, competency verification, and clinic process improvement activities.
Qualifications
Degree: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Education: Graduate from an academic nursing program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Certifications must be through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Board Certification
Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification is required at hire or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
Experience
- Must have been employed in an Infusion Center or Infusion Clinic within the past 24 months.
- Minimum of 12 months of infusion or oncology nursing experience required.
- Experience administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologics, or infusion therapies strongly preferred.
Licensure
Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

- Familiarity with military healthcare systems and TRICARE is highly desirable
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- Standard clinic hours: 0730 – 1630
- Procedure days may require schedule adjustments from 0700 – 1600
- Maximum 40 hours per week
- No on-call requirement
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move clinical equipment and supplies
- Ability to safely administer infusions and assist patients during treatments
- Manual dexterity sufficient for IV therapy and infusion procedures
Work Environment
This position is performed in a military outpatient Hematology/Oncology and Infusion Clinic environment within Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center. The work setting includes direct patient care, infusion therapy administration, chemotherapy safety practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and electronic medical documentation.
Immunization Requirement
Must comply with all DHA and Medical Employee Health Program (MEHP) requirements, including tuberculosis screening, annual influenza vaccination, and required immunizations.
Security Requirement
Must successfully complete all credentialing, background investigation, and installation access requirements for work on Nellis Air Force Base.
