osition Summary
The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing all accounting operations for AIMS Companies. This role ensures accurate financial data, assists in closing processes, and helps maintain compliance across multiple states and business units. The Assistant Controller is hands-on with day-to-day accounting tasks while contributing to process improvement, reporting accuracy, and operational discipline.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Assist with management of AP, AR, payroll accounting, cash management, and general ledger maintenance.
- Support month-end close, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and variance analysis.
- Maintain accuracy of job costing, revenue recognition, and work-in-progress schedules.
- Ensure compliance with multi-state tax filings.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare financial reports, internal dashboards, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with consolidated financial statements and intercompany reconciliations.
- Support year-end audit preparation and collaborate with external auditors.
Process Improvement & Controls
- Recommend ways to streamline accounting operations, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting efficiency.
- Ensure proper documentation of policies, procedures, and financial processes.
- Assist in implementing new tools, software, or processes.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with field operations, project managers, procurement, and leadership to collect financial data.
- Provide cross-training and support to accounting staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 3–7 years of accounting experience; public accounting or job-cost industry experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Experience with multi-state environments, fixed assets, and job costing a plus.
- Strong Excel and ERP/accounting system skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Salary : $140,000 - $165,000
