Responsibilities & Duties
Pre-Construction Responsibilities
- Review all documentation in order to gain a deep understanding of the entire project and its requirements.
- Assist the pre-construction team in procurement, providing quantity take-offs, scope review meetings, and in issuing contracts and purchase orders.
- Visit sites as necessary for pre-bid meetings.
- Prepare construction budgets by reviewing project plans and specifications, including updates or changes.
- Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating prices
- Evaluates and level bids
- Resolves cost discrepancies
- Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals
- Builds and maintains long-term relationships with vendors and subcontractors
Construction Estimator Requirements
- Previous working experience as a construction estimator for a minimum of 4-7 years
- Familiarity with computer programs such as Procore, Planswift, and Excel
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to multitask is very important
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Experience/Education
- BS in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
- Prior related experience with a Commercial GC/CM
