START DATE: Late December/Early JanuaryPAY: $30/hr.JOB TITLE: Human ResourcesDAYS/HOURS: Tues, Wed, Friday (8AM-4PM)DURATION: 8-12 weeksREPORTS TO: TITLE: DEPT:COMPANY INFO: Paving contractor in Whitman, Massachusetts JOB DESCRIPTION: Temporary, filling in for maternity leave (8-12 weeks) Emphasis on unemployment practices & procedures, customer service skills, and payroll knowledge.Essential Job FunctionsServe as the primary HR resource and communication link for management and employees, providing guidance on policies, benefits, and workplace issues.Partner with senior management to support company-wide strategic initiatives.Develop and implement programs focused on retention, performance management, career development, and succession planning.Oversee benefits administration, including medical, dental, voluntary benefits, identity protection, 401(k), COBRA, unemployment insurance, census reporting, and annual filings.Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with wage laws, garnishment orders, tax requirements, and internal policies; handle post-payroll responsibilities, including paying all required state and federal payroll taxes.Lead the annual Open Enrollment process for active employees and COBRA participants.Address employee relations concerns related to payroll, benefits, and HR matters promptly and effectively.Maintain and update accurate employee records; coordinate payroll to ensure accurate processing for new hires, seasonal staff, terminations, salary changes, deductions, unemployment, and vacation accrual.Provide extensive support to employees in applying for unemployment benefits and assist with any additional questions or concerns they may have.Manage recruitment for non-exempt and temporary positions, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and collaborating with management on hiring decisions.Conduct new hire orientations to ensure successful onboarding.Manage the termination process, including exit interviews.Collaborate with the CFO to ensure accuracy in wage, garnishment, and employee information.Administer workers’ compensation claims in partnership with the Safety Committee.Maintain and enforce company policies as outlined in the employee handbook.Assist with planning and execution of company-sponsored events, such as Kickoff Day, Safety Day, Family Day, Thankful Thursdays, and the annual holiday party.Perform additional HR-related tasks as assigned.
