Design Director - Graphics & Headwear

Aimé Leon Dore is looking for a Design Director- Graphics & Headwear to join our team in New York, New York, reporting directly to EVP of Product. This position will be responsible for leading the creative direction and development of graphics and headwear across Aimé Leon Dore’s seasonal collections, collaborations, and special projects. This role plays a key part in translating the brand’s storytelling, heritage inspirations, and cultural perspective into compelling graphic concepts and headwear products.

The Design Director partners closely with merchandising, product development, and brand teams to ensure graphics and headwear support both the creative vision and commercial objectives of the business. The role oversees the design process from concept through production while maintaining the elevated aesthetic and quality standards synonymous with the brand.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Creative Direction
• Lead the seasonal creative direction for graphics across apparel, accessories, and collaborative projects
• Develop graphic narratives that reflect the brand’s cultural influences, storytelling, and design language
• Oversee typography, artwork development, and graphic placement across product categories
• Ensure consistency of visual identity across all graphic executions
• Headwear Category Leadership
• Direct the design and development of headwear including caps, knit hats, and specialty headwear styles
• Evolve headwear silhouettes, materials, trims, and graphic applications in line with seasonal concepts
• Ensure headwear supports the broader collection narrative and brand aesthetic
• Product Strategy & Collaboration
• Partner with the EVP of Product and merchandising teams to align graphics and headwear with seasonal assortment strategies
• Ensure design supports business goals including sell-through, margin, and product differentiation
• Participate in seasonal product planning and category strategy discussions
• Cross-Functional Partnership
• Collaborate with product development teams to ensure accurate execution of designs and quality standards
• Work closely with brand and marketing teams on campaign graphics, collaborations, and special projects
• Ensure designs align with seasonal calendars and production timelines
• Team Leadership
• Lead and mentor designers working within graphics and accessories categories
• Provide creative guidance during design reviews and sample meetings
• Help maintain efficient design processes and workflows within the design team
  

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in graphic design, accessories design, or fashion design
• Strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design, typography, and product design
• Experience designing headwear and working with headwear manufacturers
• Deep understanding of graphic application techniques including print, embroidery, and patches
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
• Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
  
  

Salary Range: $135,000 - $145,000
