CONTRACTOR LITERACY COACH, TEACHER COACHING - Pennsylvania Region
Position Overview
AIM Institute for Learning and Research seeks an experienced Literacy Coach, Teacher Coaching to provide job-embedded professional learning and coaching support to classroom educators implementing structured literacy practices in Philadelphia schools. This 1099 contractor position is a 30-day engagement delivering on-site observation, modeling, feedback, and collaborative planning to ensure consistent implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction aligned with the science of reading. Paid training is provided to onboard coaches to AIM's coaching model and project expectations. Candidates must be local to the Philadelphia area.
Key Responsibilities
■ Provide job-embedded coaching to educators on structured literacy practices, assessment use, and instructional materials implementation
■ Conduct classroom observations with targeted feedback to support evidence based literacy instruction and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) implementation
■ Facilitate structured workshops for educator teams focused on literacy instruction, assessment practices, and data-informed decision-making
■ Lead professional learning communities that promote collaborative problem solving and sustained implementation of instructional practices
■ Model effective instructional strategies and co-teach with educators to build capacity in classroom-level implementation
■ Support teachers in using literacy assessment data to plan instruction and monitor student progress
■ Collaborate with school leaders and AIM project staff to align coaching supports with school and district literacy priorities
■ Complete paid training on AIM's coaching model, tools, and protocols prior to the start of coaching work
■ Maintain accurate documentation of coaching activities, progress, and outcomes
Required Qualifications
■ 3–5 years of literacy instructional coaching experience
■ Deep knowledge of the science of reading and structured literacy practices
■ Completion of an IDA-accredited training program (e.g., LETRS, AIM Pathways, or equivalent)
■ Experience supporting teachers through observation, feedback, modeling, and co-planning
■ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trusting relationships with educators
■ Must be local to the Philadelphia area and able to travel to school sites for in person coaching
Preferred Qualifications
■ Experience coaching in urban and/or large district settings
■ Familiarity with Pennsylvania literacy initiatives
■ Knowledge of commonly used literacy assessment tools (e.g., DIBELS, Acadience)
■ Experience supporting multilingual learners and culturally responsive instructional practices
■ Familiarity with implementation science and adult learning principles
■ Advanced degree in reading, literacy, special education, or a related field
Other Information
■ 1099 contractor position with competitive per diem compensation
■ Contract engagement for 30 days of work
■ Paid training provided prior to the start of coaching
■ No benefits provided; contractors are responsible for their own taxes
■ This position begins August 3, 2026
■ Required reporting, metrics, observation, and attendance guidelines
