Seeking a suitable candidate for the role of a General Manager (GM) for an upscale Hyatt House hotel currently under construction in Monroe Township/South Brunswick/Cranbury NJ which has an anticipated opening in April, 2025.
Extensive hands-on training of a minimum of 3 months will be provided by working directly alongside General Manager of a Homewood Suites in Edison, NJ under the same Management/Ownership while simultaneously obtaining the Brand Required Certifications which are mostly done virtually.

General Manager is the most senior manager on-site, overseeing all hotel operations to ensure profitability, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. The GM provides strategic direction, manages staff across all departments, and acts as a liaison between the hotel and the corporate office or owners. Duties and responsibilities
- Operational management: Supervise daily hotel operations across all departments, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, sales, marketing, and maintenance.
- Strategic planning: Develop and execute strategies to achieve and exceed budgeted revenue and profit goals. Conduct market analysis to stay competitive and identify new business opportunities.
- Financial oversight: Manage budgets, monitor financial reports, and control costs to ensure the hotel meets its financial targets and maximizes profitability.
- Guest relations: Maintain a highly visible and available presence for guests, personally handling complex complaints and ensuring exceptional customer service is delivered consistently.
- Staff leadership: Recruit, hire, train, and manage hotel employees, including department heads. Foster a positive work environment, resolve employee issues, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Quality control: Regularly inspect guest rooms, public areas, and grounds to ensure the hotel maintains high standards of cleanliness, appearance, and upkeep.
- Facilities maintenance: Oversee property maintenance and implement preventive maintenance programs to protect the hotel's physical assets.
- Compliance and security: Ensure the hotel meets all health, safety, and security laws and regulations.
Qualifications and skills
- Experience: Typically requires 5 years of progressive management experience in Manager role.
- Education: A bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is often preferred, but extensive experience may be an acceptable substitute.
- Leadership and communication: Excellent leadership, team-building, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving: The ability to think on your feet and respond to various situations effectively, including guest issues and staff conflicts.
