What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Mill Programmer position at Aileron Mold?
Close-Tolerance Medical Tooling & Hard Milling
We’re looking for a highly skilled CNC Mill Programmer who takes pride in precision work and understands what it takes to machine high-end medical tooling and mold components.
Our shop specializes in close-tolerance medical injection molds and precision mold components. The work is small, intricate, and demanding — requiring a programmer who understands not only how to generate toolpaths, but how to hold tight tolerances, achieve excellent finishes, and machine complex details in hardened materials.
This is not high-volume production machining. We build precision tooling where details matter and quality comes first.
What You’ll Work On
- Precision medical injection mold components
- Hardened steel tooling and close-tolerance details
- Small intricate features requiring fine finishes and accurate geometry
- High-precision components where tenths matter
Experience We’re Looking For
5 years of CNC programming experience required
Strong experience with:
- CNC mill programming for precision tooling
- Close-tolerance hard milling
- Medical or high-precision mold work
- High-speed machining strategies
- Tight-tolerance setup and process control
- Surface finish optimization
- Small-feature machining and detailed geometry
Ideal candidates will understand:
- Tool deflection and thermal stability
- Precision workholding and setup techniques
- Efficient yet reliable machining practices
- The difference between production machining and true precision tooling work
The Kind of Person Who Succeeds Here
- Cares deeply about accuracy and quality
- Thinks critically and solves machining challenges
- Pays attention to details others overlook
- Takes pride in clean, efficient, reliable programs
- Understands that precision tooling requires patience and craftsmanship
