Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support ophthalmologists in providing exceptional patient care, manage clinical and administrative duties, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical history and verifying insurance information
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort
  • Perform basic ophthalmic testing, including visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements, refractions, diagnostic testing
  • Maintain aseptic techniques to ensure infection control during examinations and procedures
  • Operate electronic health record (EHR) systems to document patient information accurately
  • Support ophthalmologists during exams
  • Manage medical records with confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas following infection control protocols

Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmology principles
  • Experience with medical office operations, including EMR/EHR systems
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Ability to perform basic ophthalmic testing accurately
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during clinical procedures
  • Excellent communication skills for effective patient education and front desk interactions
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Prior clinic experience in general medical settings is a plus
  • Understanding of medical billing and coding processes is beneficial but not required

Pay: From $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38.0 – 42.0 per week
