Position Summary
The Medication Technician is responsible for administering medications in accordance with physician orders, state regulations, and community policies while promoting the comfort, dignity, and well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications to residents according to established schedules, physician orders, and facility protocols
- Accurately document medication administration and maintain detailed medication records
- Observe residents for changes in condition, adverse reactions, or side effects and promptly report concerns to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Communicate effectively with nurses, healthcare providers, residents, and family members
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and security of medications
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed
- Support the care team in maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive environment
Qualifications
- Current Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification (or equivalent, as required by state regulations)
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous experience in assisted living, longterm care, or healthcare setting preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a teamoriented environment
