Position Title: Next Bridge Job Coach

Department: Department of Special Programs

Reports To: Director of Secondary Special Education


SUMMARY:

The Next Bridge Job Coach will be responsible for teaching interns at internship sites. The Job Coach will create checklists and tools to assist in learning job tasks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties and responsibilities apply to programming for Project SEARCH interns that require specialized instruction and differentiated support in the work site setting:


  • Work with Business Liaison, Department Managers, and Instructor to develop new internship
  • Work with the Instructor to assess intern’s skills and gather baseline
  • Responsible for writing and updating, checklists/task-lists, and plans of necessary accommodation for interns.
  • Learn all internship rotations and make any accommodation (Ex. Labeling, simplifying checklists, grouping tasks, etc.) necessary for successful completion of the job.
  • Trains and coaches, the students to meet employer standards and expectations as established
  • Provide feedback weekly using rubrics and evaluations.
  • To present a professional demeanor and appearance while representing Aiken County Public School District and Next Bridge to families, interns, and partnering staff.

  • Adhere to the ethical standards and codes of the profession, and to the established rules, regulations, and laws governing special education.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:

Meets Highly Qualified standards as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: Associate degree preferred, or High School diploma and general education degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college or passing score on the ParaPro Assessment. Experience in working with children.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Valid Class D Driver’s License


Completion of coursework and licensure for a Class D driver’s license within 4 months of hire date. Failure to achieve the Class D licensure in 4 months will result in removal from the job coach position with transfer options to other classified positions within the school district that are available (at a lower pay rate).


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Oversee and transport Project SEARCH interns in an Aiken County Public School District owned vehicle.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as simple instructions, short correspondence and memos, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and/or type routine reports and correspondences. Ability to speak effectively before groups of district personnel or organizations.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Application of percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work related issues and problems. Ability to quickly assess employee, departmental, and administrative needs and provide timely feedback.


Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.


Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and district employees. Ability to perform duties with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to self-monitor and manage multiple tasks while working individually and with members of a group.

Physical demands consist of frequently standing, talking or listening, walking or sitting for a period. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 pounds, such as lifting to a changing table, pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Duties are performed indoors as well as outdoors.

Level 112 Pay Scale


The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full-time employment during an entire school year. Conditions of employment are adjusted for part time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.


Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
