Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Painter to join our dynamic construction and renovation team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying paint, coatings, and finishes to a variety of surfaces in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Your expertise will help transform spaces, enhance their durability, and ensure a polished, professional appearance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects that require precision, creativity, and a strong understanding of surface preparation and finishing techniques.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and applying primer to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using hand tools such as brushes, rollers, sprayers (including airless paint spraying), and power tools
- Read blueprints and schematics to determine project specifications and color schemes based on color theory principles
- Perform surface repairs including plastering, caulking, masonry work, stucco application, and restoration tasks to ensure smooth finishes
- Execute renovation projects involving trim carpentry, fixture installation, framing, drywall finishing, and masonry work
- Maintain safety standards on construction sites by using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety protocols
- Assist with construction estimating for painting scope of work and collaborate with project managers to meet deadlines
Requirements
- Proven experience in residential painting as well as commercial or industrial painting projects
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Hands-on experience with hand tools such as brushes, rollers, scrapers, caulking guns, and power tools including drills and sanders
- Familiarity with surface preparation techniques like plastering, drywall finishing, masonry work, stucco application, and concrete finishing
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics accurately to execute detailed painting plans
- Knowledge of color theory for selecting appropriate finishes that complement design schemes
- Experience working on construction sites with an understanding of safety procedures and protocols
- Additional skills such as welding, carpentry (trim framing), fixture installation or handyman experience are a plus but not mandatory
